Warranty Coverage

Metro Trailers stands behind every trailer we build. We provide a comprehensive 2-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship when used under normal conditions. This warranty applies from the date of purchase, provided full payment has been received.

Our warranty commitment is between Metro Trailers and the original purchaser only. This warranty is non-transferable and does not extend to subsequent owners.

Your Responsibilities

To maintain your warranty coverage, you must:

  • Complete an annual service inspection by an authorised Metro Trailers service agent and retain proof of service (receipt or service record)
  • Follow the recommended maintenance schedule outlined in your owner's manual
  • Keep your trailer in good condition, including regular touch-ups of stone chips or surface damage to prevent rust (recommended every 3 months)
  • Use your trailer only as intended and in accordance with Metro Trailers' specifications and guidelines
  • Not modify, alter, or repair any components or systems without prior authorisation from Metro Trailers

What's Covered

Our warranty covers defects in materials and manufacturing workmanship, including:

  • Structural components, chassis, and frame integrity
  • Manufacturing defects in materials and assembly
  • Electrical systems and wiring (when properly maintained)
  • Water systems, plumbing, and fittings
  • Bodywork and paint defects (excluding normal wear and tear)

Metro Trailers reserves the right to repair or replace defective parts at our discretion. Replacement parts may be new, refurbished, or of similar quality and specification if identical parts are unavailable.

What's Not Covered

This warranty does not apply if:

  • You have not completed the required annual service inspections or followed maintenance requirements
  • The trailer has been misused, abused, neglected, overloaded beyond rated capacity, or incorrectly stored
  • The trailer has been involved in an accident, collision, or incident (including flood damage, saltwater exposure, or exposure to corrosive chemicals such as fertilisers, cement, or caustic substances)
  • Any components have been modified, repaired, or altered without Metro Trailers' authorisation
  • Damage results from improper hitching, incorrect hitch height, loose or improperly torqued fasteners, incorrect hitch balls, or faulty tow vehicle wiring

Recommended Settings:

  • Wheel nut torque: 115Nm
  • Hitch height: 420-450mm (trailer should tow level)

This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, consumables, or replacement parts including (but not limited to) light bulbs, LED bulbs, batteries, tyres, inner tubes, wheel bearings, brake pads, or brake components.

Third-party accessories and optional equipment fitted to your trailer are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties. Metro Trailers is not responsible for fulfilling warranty obligations for third-party products such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, audio systems, alarms, or power supply units. We are also not responsible for work performed by unauthorised service providers.

Metro Trailers will not be liable for costs including labour charges, overtime, service call fees, loss of use, inconvenience, rental equipment, towing charges, transportation costs, or any other consequential losses. Repairs or parts not specifically approved by Metro Trailers under this warranty will not be reimbursed.

Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe you have a warranty claim:

  1. Contact Metro Trailers within 7 days of discovering the issue
  2. Provide proof of purchase (invoice or receipt)
  3. Submit detailed information about the defect, including photos or videos where possible
  4. Include any relevant documentation such as maintenance records or service receipts
  5. Make your trailer available for inspection at a location approved by Metro Trailers within 14 days of your claim

All warranty repairs must be authorised by Metro Trailers before work commences. We may request that repairs be completed by an authorised Metro Trailers service agent or approved third-party provider. Transportation costs to and from the inspection or repair location are the responsibility of the customer.

If inspection reveals no defect covered under this warranty, the customer will be responsible for any service and testing costs incurred.

Important Information

You are responsible for ensuring your trailer is operated correctly and safely. This includes verifying proper hitching, correct tow vehicle setup, and regular inspection of all components. Damage to your tow vehicle or trailer resulting from improper operation is not covered under this warranty.

Metro Trailers is not responsible for theft of goods from your trailer, regardless of security systems installed. You are also responsible for any damage, property loss, or personal injury resulting from incorrect use of the trailer or its accessories.

This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (where applicable). For business purchases, the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply. This warranty does not exclude, restrict, or modify any rights you may have under New Zealand law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified.
